Practise legal work for a client, not just for an exam

A supplier claims force majeure and your client wants to know where they stand. Find the deadlines, research the law, serve the notice in time and redraft the contract, with a client who reacts.

A real exercise

Atlas, a supplier, sends a force majeure notice after a fire at its own supplier. Your client needs advice by Friday. You read the contract, work out which deadlines are running, check the case law, serve a notice correctly, and write advice the client can act on.

01

How it works

Every exercise follows the same rhythm as the real job: a problem arrives, you investigate, you act, and the simulated company responds.

  1. 01

    The client calls

A notice arrives, a contract needs changing, or a deadline is about to pass.

  2. 02

    You research

Read the contract and the correspondence, find the deadlines, and look up the authorities that apply.

  3. 03

    You act

Diarise the deadlines, serve the notice, redline the clause and write the advice.

  4. 04

    You see what held

Missed deadlines, wrong citations and unclear drafting are caught, and the debrief explains why they matter.

02

What you practise

Concrete tasks taken from the exercises on this page. Each one is done with real data, under real constraints, inside the same simulated company.

  • T01

    Calculate and diarise deadlines

Work out business days and limitation periods, and record them properly.

  • T02

    Serve a notice correctly

Right party, right method, right time, as the contract requires.

  • T03

    Research authorities

Find and cite the cases that support the advice.

  • T04

    Redline a contract

Revise clauses, use defined terms consistently and negotiate rather than only mark up.

  • T05

    Advise the client

Write a clear note that tells the client what to do next.

What your organisation gets

Evidence, not attendance.

  1. 01

Practical skills before the first job

Students practise the careful, deadline-driven work that trainees and junior lawyers do.

  2. 02

    Clear, specific feedback

Each deadline, notice, citation and drafting choice is checked, so feedback is specific.

  3. 03

Part of a wider business story

The legal matter comes from the same company whose plant and cash problems learners see elsewhere.

03

The tools you work with

Working tools, not screenshots. They read the same live data as the rest of the simulated company, and what you change in one shows up in the others.

  • 01

    Deadlines and service

Count business days and limitation periods from the right date, diarise them, serve notices.

  • 02

    Legal research

The matter's library of authorities, searchable, with what each one supports.

  • 03

    Contract drafting

The draft clause by clause, the alternatives, the client's instructions and drafting checks.

Six levels, one exercise

Teachers and trainers choose how much help each person gets. The exercise stays the same; only the guidance and the grading change.

What every attempt leaves behind

Judge the work, not a quiz score. Every attempt is recorded as it happens, so you can see how someone worked, not only where they ended up.

  • Every action, in order

What was checked, who was asked, what was changed and when. Nothing is overwritten.

  • Scores by skill

Each exercise scores the skills it was built to test, from what was actually done.

  • Weak habits, flagged

Poor patterns in how the work was done are flagged, not only wrong final answers.

  • A replay of the attempt

Step through the session as it happened, with typed personal details masked.
